A simple eight-step guide in approaching Shakespeare. Ideal for beginners or professionals looking to get a deeper understanding of how to approach the text.
Beginning with a historical overview examining the world in which Shakespeare was writing and the conditions in which his plays were performed, the session will then introduce students to the Iambic Pentameter. Building on principles laid out by practitioners such as John Barton, Cicely Berry and Ben Crystal, it will offer a accessible tool for a practical, objective analysis of the text, which will act as a vehicle for making individual and connected choices
